Patient Information

By referring you to our office, your dentist has shown their concern that you receive the finest endodontic care possible. We hope to surpass your expectations and change the way you think about root canal treatment.

Skyway Endodontics is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.   We understand dental pain and will make every attempt to schedule you as soon as possible.

Your first visit usually consists of a consultation to explain the diagnosis and discuss treatment options.  When possible, treatment will be completed on the same day as the consultation.  Occasionally two treatment visits will be required due to the complex nature of your tooth.

On the day of treatment please continue to take all medications as prescribed by your physician and eat a normal meal.  If your physician or dentist recommends antibiotic pre-medication (typically for those with a prosthetic cardiac valve, those with a history of infective endocarditis, congenital heart defects, or recent joint replacements) please take it one hour prior to treatment.

Following treatment many patients have relief of pain or no symptoms at all, however, it is normal if tenderness lingers for two to three days. An anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprofen and/or Tylenol can also be taken. It is recommended to not chew on the root canal-treated tooth until a definitive restoration is placed either at our office or by your general dentist.  Most endodontically treated posterior teeth will require a crown which will be done by your dentist. (Please refer to our Post-Treatment Instructions page for more information.)
