Please bring your signed patient forms and list of medications to your first appointment If your dentist provided you with a referral and radiograph please bring them.
On the day of treatment please continue to take all medications as prescribed by your physician and eat a normal meal. If your physician or dentist recommends antibiotic pre-medication (typically for those with a prosthetic cardiac valve, those with a history of infective endocarditis, congenital heart defects or recent joint replacements) please take it one hour prior to treatment.
Following treatment many patients have relief of pain or no symptoms at all, however, it is normal if tenderness lingers for two to three days. An anti inflammatory such as Ibuprofen or Aspirin is frequently recommended. Tylenol can also be taken. It is recommended to not chew on the root canal treated tooth until a definitive restoration is placed either at our office or by your general dentist. Most endodontically treated posterior teeth will require a crown which will be done by your dentist. We will do our best to assist you in scheduling a return visit with your general dentist.
